Job Summary

Overall responsibility for the day-to-day Estimating and related functions of The Company. This includes, but is not limited to project estimating and quoting, materials costing, standards maintenance and estimate vs actual performance analysis. The Lead Estimator is highly visible in our day-to-day business and communicates frequently throughout the day with internal employees, sales and customers.

Essential Job Functions

  • Produces project estimates and quotations for all custom products, per Blanks/USA procedure and cost structure, within expected time frames.
  • Maintains standards of labor and material costs for all catalog products.
  • Maintains estimating material costs in Estimating system.
  • Provide knowledgeable, personable and friendly support to customers on product questions and custom jobs.
  • Suggest alternative methods of production process or material to improve operational efficiency, equipment utilization, customer satisfaction, and/or Blanks/USA margins.
  • Develop efficient operations for estimating while maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Cross train others to cover estimating when there is an overflow of work.
  • Track estimate won/lost performance and formally report results monthly.
  • Provide technical support to Production and Customer Service on equipment capability and products.
  • Coordinate outsourcing of projects when needed.
  • Support the teamwork of all internal departments (Shipping, Customer Service, Production, Purchasing, Finance, and Sales)

Other Job Functions

  • Development of written procedures for job responsibilities.
  • Produce analytical reports as requested in Excel
  • Coordinate testing of products and ideas on our equipment
  • Purchase materials (paper, dies, etc) for custom quotes.
  • Back up for Purchasing department as needed
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Qualifications

  • Ability to talk with other by telephone, in a patient, pleasant and cooperative manner, using standard, grammatically correct American English
  • High level user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities and make productive use of time.
  • Ability to research options and clearly summarize the data to make recommendations
  • Neat, clean, businesslike appearance.
  • Ability to accept changes in routine.
  • Ability to follow direction in practices and procedures.
  • Able to work cooperatively and with a positive manner with other employees.

Other Job Qualifications

  • Ability to compose business correspondence using correct spelling and grammatically correct American English
  • Ability to understand the capabilities of all production equipment.

Typical Physical Demands

Regularly use hands to manipulate a computer keyboard. Regularly walk through production area checking stock and equipment.

Typical Work Conditions

Work is performed in an office and warehouse environment. Employee interacts with co-workers regarding estimates, length of production and equipment capabilities. Employee also communicates verbally and in writing with customers regarding job specifications and with vendors regarding equipment.

Salary: $24.00 to $26.00 /hour
